My operating system has quit working. I was running Ubuntu 9.10 and
left it running while I went out. When I returned it didn't work. When
I boot I get messages that it can't find /dev, /sys, /proc on root and
/sbin/init not found. It also says try parsing init=bootarg but I have
not idea how to do this. I know this is rather vague description but I
am hoping someone has seen this and know what to do.

Many thanks in advance to anybody who can give me an idea how to get
this working again.

Jim
