Agreed. Though I'd run fsck on the partitions before attempting to mount. I=
t's handy to keep bootable USB keys around (I always have 2 on me - one w/ =
live debian, one w/ clonezilla or the like).

Have you tried booting up on a Live CD and mounting your drive to have a lo=
ok see? That would be my first step.
