OFFTOPIC - huge house wireless router suggestions

I am looking for suggestions for a wireless router that could cover a
huge house (think 4500-5000sq ft.). I have only bought dinky access
points at Bestbuy or Fry's so I'm not sure where to begin. The problem
is that when we walk around the house, the signal says full, but the
response and signal is horrible. I also noticed when running bandwidth
tests, upload is fine (4 meg on speedtest.net) , but downloading is
super slow (0.02meg).  Just looking to tap the brain trust is all.
