Re: Another problem on another machine - not booting

I have been using Clonezilla Live (clonezilla.sourceforge.net) for
several months now.  It is a pre-built disk image that you download
and burn to CDROM. It will create and restore disk or partition
images using dd / partclone / ntfsclone utilities. I've done some
data-carving using its copy of dd, as well.

It suppports ext and ntfs filesystems.  It has a shell mode that
you can use to mount and repair your disk (if possible).

You should make an image copy of your disk drive to a USB drive or
similar before you attempt a recovery.

I haven't heard of malware taking out a Linux box, but I have worn
out several disks over the years, and had to recover and move data
to other disks.

For my money, Clonezilla is the one to beat. If you can find a computer
to use, you can download (~~133 MB) or I can make a bootable CDROM,
and send it your way.
