K Menu help

This will teach me not to play around.
I uninstalled X (which basically takes out half of the apps installed on 
my pc including KDE and Gnome), then reinstalled it back both via Yum. X 
and KDE 3.4 installed fine, no problems there. My preferences are still 
there (Desktop background, desktop icons, startup things under .kde) but 
I couldn't get any menus if I click on the big K button. Under All 
Applications, it has no entries at all. Running kcontrol from command 
line, I get no tree menu on the left hand side either. ARGH. Help me, is 
there any way to rebuild the menus?

On another related note, kfmclient openProfile filemanagement won't run 
either. Running it from terminal would just give me the prompt 
back,double clicking Home icon doesn't work. I tried running Konqueror 
from terminal, it ran, but under Settings --> Preferences it is all blank.
