Hey guys,
 
Most of you have no idea who i am. So allow me to indroduce myslf. Im
Rob, 16 years old, and ive been using linux for a good few yers now. I
have only managed to get to a couple of meetings (Friday nights are
horrible for me :() and im the young kid that hung around with Robert
Davidson or stood on his own.
 
When Robert Davidson left as admin he handed them to Mac Calder, and he
handed me the official MLUG Austnet channel, which subsequently died. It
used to be quite a nice little channel. Few people came, but you could
always count on it for a bit of stimulating conversation or urgent linux
help.
 
So here is my attempt at a resurection. Here are the details:
 
Server: Austnet (irc.austnet.org)
Channel: #mlug
 
Or if you want direct linkage if you have an irc client (with the
pacific server specified, it is almost always working): (
irc://pacific.sg.austnet.org/mlug )
 
I good IRC client for linux off the top of my head is xchat (not sure
if its still around) or if you have WINE or any other emulation software
i would recommend mIRC.
 
Lets see if we can bring #mlug back up into an active channel?

If someone wants a IRC/Messenger client that is not GUI based (Text
console/Cursors based) have a look at CenterICQ
 
This package handles ICQ, Jabba, IRC, MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, LiveJournal,
Gadu-Gadu...
 
I use this package over GUI based messengers, even if I have to use a
terminal window ;o)
