Hi all, While thinking of a previous discussion with Ray Christie on this list I thought I'd note for him a package I just tried out with my hp psc-2355. It is hplip and it is developed to replace both hpijs (print drivers) and hpoj (scanner interface). It was well worth the bother of installing and as long as I made sure dependencies were on board and that I started up hplip before CUPS. Hplip also provides a gui interface for accessing printer utilities, scanner, and digital camera cards written in python with the qt toolkit. Fax functionality has yet to be included. I can still install/manage printers via CUPS and I notice that both b/w and colour printing speed and quality has improved considerably compared to CUPS with my current hpijs package While it was written with slackware in mind the following link should provide all the info needed to install it by hand. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.hpofficejet.devel/2113 -- Cheers, Rick Miles Movement stopped is no movement, and rest set in motion is no rest.
