Meeting Topic

Hello all (and Andrew Laird ),

If you are looking for a topic for this month's meet at CBV, I can put
my hand up for a short talk on the Linux thin client trial at the
Footscray Library. if that's what MLUG users want.

This "simple" Linux thin client network was implemented on a "trial" and
"demo" basis in May 2004, initially for a period of 3 months.

12 months down the track, it is still running, providing additional
public Internet access capacity for library patrons. Users are not
technical people or Linux fans. They are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Average.
    
My talk will not be overly technical. Rather it is my ( our )
observations on how the lessons learnt on deploying a Linux "server"
centric solution in amongst a user population based around Windows 98
Desktops. 

I will be willing to answer technical questions as well. Since it is at
CBV; I can setup a demo as well. 

This talk may fit into 1 hour slot.
