Thanks for the quick reply Tony, the camera is an extremely cheap unit 
called the IXLA Dualcam 64, it takes reasonable piccies at 640x480, 
suitable for the net or web site, as i stated, it has worked before, 
Fedora does indeed detect it correctly, it just wont download the piccies!
