Last meeting of the year

Traditionally the last meeting of the year has involved food (pizza) and
(soft) drinks. It has usually been a hands-on session as well where
people are encouraged to bring along a PC and we can assist them to
install or configure Linux. To ensure that we can get all this covered
we usually commence the meeting half-an-hour earlier, at 6:30pm instead
of 7:00pm.

First step is to ensure that we have access to the venue (Computerbank)
for the evening. We need someone who can pick up the key for the venue
prior to 5pm from Computerbank. As we will most likely be requiring
internet access on the night, this will need to be arranged with them as
well. (There is an extra charge.)

Second step is to ensure that we have food and drink on the evening. I
will need a volunteer to pick up pizza and drinks from a suitably cheap
location and bring them back to Computerbank. Preferably that person can
pay for the food and drink in advance and then be reimbursed, although
we can do it the other way if we have to. (Just have to wait longer for
the food to arrive.)

The MLUG meeting fund has about $50 in it, so I suggest that we will
need to bring a bit more money along than normal, say $3-$5 depending on
what you can afford.

I am back on an 'unlimited' plan with Optus Cable, and am happy to
download whatever distro people want on the evening. I can burn it on CD
or DVD as required. I will be providing the usual suspects but if you do
want something let me know in advance, either by emailing me direct or
by responding to this email. $1 per CD or $5 per DVD will cover my
costs. I still have a bunch of older official Ubuntu CDs for free.

If you have a particular issue you would like to see addressed, it is
helpful to let us know in advance so that appropriate research can be
done before the night.

I will be resigning as meeting co-ordinator following this meeting as I
simply no longer have the time to put into it that is needed to do a
good job. As the next meeting is in January that will give us two months
to find a replacement co-ordinator.
