Have a look here: http://www.klevze.si/samba/history/samba-3.0.14.html - somebody claimed it was fixed in 3.0.14 You could try to do this on the kubuntu machine: apt-get update && apt-get upgrade - provided you can get apt-get to work okay. This might be better than mucking around with all the other machines.
