I thought I'd close this thread with something useful

After having a look around tovid (cli) did the job nicely. Default is ntsc but
can be easily changed to pal. Didn't bother with the tovidgui Once Tovid is
installed and I have the obscure stuff onboard, e.g. faac and faad, its just
a couple commands and time.

The school play was recorded on dvd and I first had to combine a couple vob
files into one.

#cat ./*.VOB > /mnt/hdd5/videos/xmas/xmovie.vob

# tovid -in /mnt/hdd5/videos/xmas/xmovie.vob -out Ned-Kelly

The audio and video will be stripped into seperate files them multiplexed
resulting in an mpg suitable for burning)

#makexml Ned-Kelly.mpg Ned-Kelly
#dvdauthor -o Ned-Kelly -x Ned-Kelly.xml

After running dvdauthor I have a directory named Ned-Kelly with dvd file
structure ready for burning.

Time to get these dvd's posted off to the States.

Best wishes to all for the Holidays!
