"Chubby Puppy" at approx. 91 MB is probably a bit more versatile (pls. check www.goosee.com with link to Puppy Forum) ). So I have a 256 Mb USB key with some > business data on it, how would I set up the USB key so that it could be > a boot device, and also store data on it apart from that? A bit small I would think, since you need space for your personal settings and added ("PupGet") programs (am using a 512MB device). Anyhow, you are given various installation choices once you boot the first time from the "live CD" (a mini-CD at 150MB is most convenient to carry with you; cf. 3 below), one of them being "install to USB". I have been unable to install both "Puppy" and my personal settings+programs on the same bootable USB device (?easier in the more recent 1.0.6 version) and also failed to do same from a bootable DVD, but the following works nicely already with 1.0.5: 1. "Puppy" and personal settings+programs installed on a 2nd HD, just pushing in a bootable "floppy" (avoiding bootloader) when wanting to use Puppy (nearly all the time). 2. Having "Puppy's" personal settings etc. on a Win drive (no interference), and booting from "Puppy's mini-CD. 3. Having "Puppy" on a mini-CD, and personal settings/extra programs etc. on a USB device. At boot-up you have a choice to type in "sda1". N:o 3 is most convenient when working on (retrieving people's messed up WinOS/files) machines other than my own. These are early days but I am most impressed. I also have a great admiration for OpenOffice, noting your affiliation (version 1.1 is part of "Chubby Puppy"; hoping for 2.0) Cheers Eric Eric Pihl > _______________________________________________ > Melbourne Linux Users Group (Australia) > Edit your settings: http://lists.mlug.org.au >
