You can delete old ones. I don't keep binlogs older than a month. Since my database gets backed up every night I could probably get rid of a lot more. You could setup a cron job to delete those. IIRC they are only needed to rebuild after an emergency. If you're not sure, put a bunch of them in a different directory, then, if you can, restart the server and you'll see that they aren't used.
