Hi Keith, With older Parallel port scanners -- Epson. With newer USB scanners -- Epson, (and I know the Agfa Snapscan works as I have one). Check with www.sane-project.org for any you may be considering. I have found it difficult to find a stand alone scanner these days (plenty of Canon - but they are not a Linux friendly manufacturer) as most seem to be included in Multi Function Centres now. And very cheap at that.
