I'm =VERY= keen to haul my system over to some person with strong LVM 
partitioning skills, and even pay them for an hour or two hands-on 
tuition on my problem. The posts on Fedora Forum, and others, are too 
oblique or complicated for me.
Please, give me contact details of any/all (Red Hat or Fedora) LVM 
wizards you know, and/or forward this email on to them ASAP.

Converting LVM to ext3 and/or rsync to bootable backups

Please, can you help me...
I have a "new" basic FC5 home workstation setup, running just word 
processing, email, and web browsing. It's on a 40gb hdd. (It's taken me 
25 years of computing to build up about 10gb of data, and my data growth

curve is "flat".)
I'm VERY keen to use the SAME backup scheme that served me so well with 
Win98, before I recently ported over to FC5. 3 removable hard disks in 
3 trays:
- A bare-bones bootup disk, used only for conducting backups. 
- My normal bootup/data disk (descr above), for day to day use. 
- And (alternating) bootable backup disks of damn-near the same size, 
partitioned and formatted like the "normal bootup/data" disk, so I can 
just "swap and continue" in case of a crash. 
In place of the MSDOS xcopy /h /e /r /k /i /v command - I think 
shutdown, mount/umount, and rsync should work.
I think that thanks to LVM I can't (a) partition and format the target 
backup disks so they would be bootable to take over, nor (b) use rsync 
(or similar) to do the backups.
I believe that if I could migrate my current LVM (os, applications, 
data, settings, etc.) into a basic old ext3 system, the above would be 
more achievable.

I have been doing LOTS of work on my new system (porting, converting, 
configuring, updating, etc.) for the last 4 weeks, without any backup 
yet! Please, help in any way you can.
