The pub does seem the appropriate place for dinner, given its 
proximity to CBV.  As for public transport issues, CBV is close to 
Nth Melbourne station and tram 57.  I haven't used either to get to 
the meeting, I tend to walk from the city (and on those days have had 
a lift home, by coincidence), or have driven from home in the 
past.  I'm sure if someone _really_ needed assistance for the short 
trip, there'd be someone able to make a quick trip to either the 
station or the tram line to pick them up.  Nth Melbourne has very 
frequent train services too, as it carries all western suburbs 
trains, plus the Broadmeadows and Upfield lines.  Only catch is you 
do have to go out via the loop from Flinders St to the venue...
