I considered trying Gentoo but noted that the release is only one CD; I've gotten spoiled by distros-on-DVD with loads of apps and libraries. Debian is the quantity-leader in this aspect. Unfortunately, Debian will not announce a schedule for the release of ETCH. But soon... Steve Stephen B.
