I own a dell vostro 1500. I'm very happy with it. It's a 2.2ghz with the NVIDIA video card. I purchased it through the small business division (all you need is a social security number which will be your tax id). I purchased mine with XP pro, and I'm currently running Fedora 8 64 bit on it. I just ordered from new egg a 4gb memory kit which will max it out. I wouldn't get the extended battery again if given the opportunity, but I do like the higher quality screen. Make sure you get the intel wireless card instead of the broadcom wireless (built in). So far the only thing in linux I've had real problems with is the integrated webcam... which really isn't that big of a deal.

I'm a huge dell fan for open source compatibility. They seem to make sure their hardware is supported for linux. I've owned HP's and Sony's and I do not like them, they seem to be a pain in the butt. Yea they may be a lil pricey in the long run, but with small business the warranty seems to be very good, and I'm happy with them.

Subject: [NMLUG] IBM laptop hardware

I'm curious if anyone here has recommendations on business laptops
they've had success with in a work environment,
for use with MS Windows and/or Linux.

Thanks,
-Nick
