Matt - Not exactly what you're asking for, but at the risk of wandering even further off topic, we've had stories in the newspaper in the past about the robotics class at APS's Career Enrichment Center, which sounds like a fabulous program for getting kids involved in this sort of thing: http://www.cec.aps.edu/classes/electronics/engineering.shtml The instructor might know if such a club/discussion group/etc. exists.
