Data area can all be rwxrwxrwx if that is easiest. I would not build a dual boot machine. I would install Gnu/Linux and run Windows XP in virtual machine using VMware. That way you can run both operating systems at the same time. RAID does not make sense if you have only one disk. Are you really talking about combining three 300 GB physical volumes into one 900 GB using LVM? 200 GB for Win XP is a heck of a lot. If I were setting up a dual boot machine, I would only allocate about 6 GB for a Win XP installation, assuming all the data will be stored on a separate data partition. Win XP x64 might need a little more space but not 30x the space. I would not use FAT32, especially for storing my data. I would want a journaling file system and would choose EXT3. If you are going with Win XP x64, you must be doing something unusual. What are you doing with this machine? Mars -- ============================================================= J.
