That is not a viable solution for my application.
Real-time, with fancy device drivers.
Just that the higher-ups prefer windows for a proof of concept.
They are not likely to fund a Real-Time LINUX prototype until viability
is demonstrated using Windows.
I can't change the system. To these people, software is just not
acceptable, or "professional", unless it is Windows.

3 disks to 1 using real hardware RAID0.
For speed, not for reliability.

Depends on how much software and data you intend to store for Windows-only.

I don't see any journaling solutions that both OS's can mount.
Windows won't mount ext3

Well... not in general.
Disk access is mostly for simulated video data used in testing.
Speed is desirable, but I don't expect to be anywhere close to real
camera rates.
