Re: Recovering data from old hard drive

Thanks but I tried it both ways. First with my DVD drive disconnected from the IDE cable and the HD set to master. Then with the DVD reconnected and set to master, HD set to slave. Both ways it tried to boot from the IDE drive.

Eric, maybe I should buy an external usb HD enclosure. I have some other old drives I want to look at too. Thanks for your offer and thanks for the idea.
