I didn't mean that Yum was flawless. I'm sure it has its flaws like the one
you pointed out. I have not experienced any issues with yum yet, I've ran
fedora since fc3, but that is not to say that I know anything really about
the process. I just know that if I type yum install blahrg if that exists
it installs with dependencies, and I've not had a problem.

I have run into some problems with fedora 9 thus far issues:

Nvidia driver is not stable, havn't quite got it working yet

Vmware will not install, think this has something to do with the new xorg
version, same issue with the nvidia driver.

Nice and flawless are two different worlds. Yum has it's limitations as I
recently found with trying to install phpmyadmin on a RH ES 5 server which
once install required php-mcrypt .which required mcrypt..etc.none of these
where resolve installing it via yum.

I dono. Yum is quite nice, and I use it for adding software for the most
part. It's rare in RH/Fedora that I install from an rpm. Usually if it's
not in yum, I'm going to have to build from src anyways.

I'd really wish that red hat/fedora would address the rpm dependency hell
that is encountered with rpms. That would be major development in my book.

Fedora 9 comes out tomorrow. Most of the MVLug users know that I'm a big
fedora fan. I will be installing both fedora 9 x86 and amd64 kernels as
soon as I get them downloaded, and will definitely let people know how they
are. Fedora 8 has been relatively stable for me, and I'm happy with it. I
hope that 9 continues this progression. I know that there's a new version
of KDE this release... and a few improvements to the acpi. If anyone has
questions about this os, please don't hesitate to ask, I'll do my best to
answer what I know, which some may say isn't very much.
