Re: Fedora 9

I used to be a big fan, and still like it, but after your 4th or 5th
24 hour compile-a-thon building a system from scratch including
X/KDE/etc, it gets a little old.  Much prefer 20 minutes of
downloading/installing via apt-get.  If I really need the performance
boost of customized binaries, I'll download the source and do it
myself  :)  We have an old server that's running Gentoo.  I left for
about a year, during which time it was never updated.  Now that I'm
back, I'm afraid to try and update it.  For one, ARCH is no longer set
up properly, and I'm pretty sure any attempt to update the damn thing
will lead to massive breakages.  On the plus side, it's running pretty
much full tilt 24/7 w/ no issues, but I'm trying to move services off
of it to redeploy it.
