Hey Steve, I was joking about the chmod 777. It would not be a good idea to do that. Permissions are an integral part of the system. When users run as superuser it just leads to OS's like Vista! Of course, if you don't want any limitations there is nothing stopping you from running as root.. a better solution is changing /etc/sudoers to "steve ALL = NOPASSWD: ALL" (if you are running as steve). At least you won't be harassed by the password prompt.
