FWIW as a list member (and in my experience managing numerous Mailman lists elsewhere; since I'm just an NMLUG member) making archives private usually ensures members don't have to censor/proofread their comments quite so much and prevents various web robots from eating up bandwidth regularly by doing wget on the archive repositories. From my perspective, private archives encourage participation and list membership, rather than a model whereby people use public information without contribution/participation in problem-solving. Invariably free resources tend to get abused/exploited. Just my two cents, -Nick -- ---------------------------------------- Nicholas S.
