NFS on Mac

I tried the trick on OSX where you use the "connect to server" function
to connect to something like
nfs://192.168.1.1/scr
Then move the folder to the dock to set up an automount.
Problem is... when trying to connect to server, it complains
about a bad username/password.
Very strange error message for NFS, which does not use user/password
authentication.
Permissions ARE open for the machine...
sudo mount 192.168.1.1:/scr /scr
works on the mac terminal.
What might be going on?
Could it be getting confused since 192.168.1.1 also provides smb service?
