I'm getting farther on this problem.
The real issue is that there are 15 pages about this issue on the net,
and for some reason, none of them work EXACTLY as stated on our 10.5
system.

It seems that most people have fallen into the MS model
of local disks being different from network disks, and attaching in
that manner.

I was trying to do things UN*X style, where you can't tell the
difference between local and network disks... with host based
authentication, like NFS.

To summarize:
   1) There is now a "Directory" utility,
      where the "mount" button allows
      you to set up NFS mounts.  (Use extra resvport option)
   2) You can add a new mountpoint to /etc/auto_master
      for automounter, then use symbolic links to put
      access to those filesystems where you want them.
