Git is extremely awesome. I use it as a sort of distributed backup and history
system for my documents, a source code management tool for my programs, and I
even use etckeeper to manage my /etc changes. It's a versatile tool.

I have Gitosis, which is an open-source github-alike, set up on my webserver.
It's a little early-in-development, but seems stable. It also allows private and
controlled repositories, access controlled via ssh.
