San Diego Supercomputer Center security expert to present at AUUG Symposium

With just over 1 week to go, now is the time to register for the AUUG
Security Tutorial and the Systems Administration Symposium.

The tutorial will be held in Sydney on Tuesday 5 July, Melbourne Tuesday
12 July and the symposium in Sydney only, on Wednesday, 6 July.

SECURITY TUTORIAL (Sydney & Melbourne)

Abe Singer's tutorial on "Logging Infrastructure and Log Analysis" will
ultimately to help the system administrator learn more about what is
happening on their systems and networks.

Abe Singer is a respected Open Systems security expert with the Security
Technologies Group at the San Diego Supercomputer Center.

Abe has served as an expert witness for the US Department of Justice in
cases of illegal intrusion and has been named "Investigator of the Year"
by the High Tech Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA).

As a bonus, Abe will also be presenting a paper at the Systems
Administration symposium (Sydney only) entitled "Security Without
Firewalls" that will challenge the industry wide preoccupation with
firewalls and back this up with his real life experience in networks
containing thousands of machines.

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION SYMPOSIUM (Sydney)

The AUUG Systems Administration Symposium, is a chance to expand your
knowledge, meet with domain experts and peers, and discuss the
administration of Unix, Linux, MAC OS X and heterogeneous systems that
include Windows. Presentations will include:
