xp wlan woes: do not see desired SSID LAN

I have three XP PCs with Dlink PCI WiFi NICs connectig to Apple WiFi
Airport (?) device with WPA-PSK/ TKIP, two are working fine, the 3rd one
does not see the 'Apple Network-xxx' during WiFi scan

the 3rd PC, when scanning for WiFi, sees another (foreign) LAN, but,
doesn't see the desired 'Apple Network-xxx' LAN

I've deleted the WiFi NIC iface, and, reinstalled Dlink s/w, still no go,
when scanning for WiFi, only an undesired WLAN SSID shows

my Palm sees the 'Apple Network-xxx', and, connects OK to it

any suggestions ?
