You do know don't you that it simply should not be that difficult.

Now if that phone was half way open you'd be able to fix that. Of
course for a developer, buying an iPhone is like a mechanic buying
a car with the hood welded shut.

I really would love to have a phone that does more than just make
calls and do SMS. I would love to have a phone that would be easy
to get data on and off. I would like email on my phone and web
and a GPS, but the iPhone is only a partially better fit than the
current Openmoko which from what I've heard still doesn't reliably
do phone calls and sms.
