inserting HP/PCL codes in a text file ?

I have an old accounting app that prints to a dot matrix/preprinted paper

it's now hooked up an HP Laser, the software just outputs plan text, using
a text file with like 'variable, line, col, Invoice To:'

I would like to include some box drawings, or font modifiers, by inserting
some HP/PCL escape codes, any one is doing anything like that?

any sample PCL code, how do I include it in a text file to be interpreted
a an esacape code?
