Arch was a necessary stepping stone in the development of DVCS in general,
leading to baz and then bzr. The creator(s) of Git did not experience or
learn from this history, so many otherwise-sensible developers are now
passionately defending an idiotic user experience because it represents
their first sniff of the power of DVCS.
