Is that a "real" SSD, like the Intel or Vertex stuff, or just using a compact
flash card via a SATA or USB adapter?

I ask, because my comments were specifically and deliberately limited to the
later case, and I think you are limiting yours to the former case.


Anyway, in case you are still confused...

...yes, a real SSD is going to be faster than a hard disk for many
read-intensive loads, including software loading, which seems to be the
commonest back-of-the-envelope ad-hoc testing of this sort.
