CD boot OK, DVD boot fails ?

I've made DVD recovery disks, using Aspire's 'built-in' tool for that.

when trying to boot from it, netbook boots from internal HD instead.

(netbook boots OK from (same DVD drive) Knoppix CD, backtrack CD, etc;
the recovery DVD boots another system with built-in dvd drive)

any thoughts ?: DVD firmware ? Aspire firmware ?

Aspire 1 D250, Asus USB powered DVD
