Thanks for the response.

For what I use Intel-based cards for, 3D desktop effects being the
most taxing thing and dual-monitors, I find them excellent.

Every time I've ever sold my soul a little (i.e. gave up a bit of my
electronic freedom) - it comes back to bite me in the arse time and
time again.

With the Nvidia it was the fact that when I wanted to run a Xen kernel
about 6 months ago I couldn't (well not in conjunction with the closed
3D accelerated driver).
