It would be remiss of us not to mention that nagios (with check_http)
can do this sort of thing.  It can check for the presence of a particular
string.  If you need fancier checks, they exist too (via 
http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/Websites,-Forms-and-Transactions)

Probably other monitors have this sort of check too.
