I have Telstra ADSL 2wire, lately I'm getting service 'dropping out' earlier today, I got 'Excessive Sessions Warning' I opened the 2wire via IP address, it claimed connection was good, when I re-entered url, I got 'diverted' to this url: 'gateway.2wire.net', and, got: ------------------------- Server not found Firefox can't find the server at gateway.2wire.net. ------------------------- the modem 'home page' was NOT loading, just blank page with error I then tried entering remote IP rather than name URL, again, I got 'diverted' to this url 'gateway.2wire.net', again, modem home page was not loading ---------------- ip address gives: This webpage is not available. The webpage at http://gateway.2wire.net/xslt?PAGE=HURL07 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Below is the original error message Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found. ---------------- but, modem home page would load via IP address eventually, it all started working again, nothing was restarted or powered down what's am I getting ? DNS failure of the ADSL modem ? I phoned Telstra to ask if service was interrupted at their end, but, all they told me they will change ADSL from 'fast' to 'stable' -- Voytek -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
