Hi Sridhar,
I intend to be at the Expo at some stage on the weekend. I will get back to you by Thursday at the latest to let you know what times, otherwise perhaps you can tell me when you are short and I'll try to help then.
I intend to look closely at at least one educational game, perhaps Tuxmaths, and identify the educational outcomes from the NSW Maths Syllabus that the game aligns to. I think this would help in gaining further support for them/it.
I have spoken to another couple of teacher friends to see if they are keen to join me. One is a high school technology teacher and the other, her husband, has been a principal of 2 schools in Nowra. Now he works in District Office and is very high up. (He had to medically retire due to illness so works when he can). Consequently, that's why I'm holding off on telling you when I can get there.
Let me know if this all fits into your organisation or not.
Thanks!
Vicki Burke

Subject: Education Expo, next weekend!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all who have offered to help with the Education Expo next weekend.
Whether it be lending items, assisting with organisation, or being at the
stand during the expo, your help is greatly appreciated.

If you'd like a basic idea of what we'll be doing, it is summarised at
http://www.linux.org.au/events/eduexpo2008

Please keep all discussion on the SLUG Activities list
[http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/activities], so that we may discuss
matters. You can CC me if you like, or mail me directly if you'd prefer to
keep the conversation private.

From each of you, I need to know the following:

* what you can offer (items, time at the stand, etc.)
* if you plan to be at the stand, let me know what times you will be available
* if you've already sent this info to me, a confirmation would be great

If you're uncertain of anything, just ask me. I know that some people have
said that they can be there for one day, but have left the choice of day to
me. That's fine - just let me know again and I'll pick a day based on the
other committals I get.

We will be promoting and distributing a few different resources. I strongly
suggest that you familiarise yourself with them so that you can talk
confidently about them at the stand. They are:

http://www.linux.org.au/education - I'll be refining this over the weekend

Entry to the expo is free. It's a fun event for families, so you might want to
bring your kids along and make a day out of it :)

My phone number is easy enough to find online, so I'd might as well post it
here: 0425 239 701.

I'll try and send a follow-up message as we get closer to the day.

Cheers,
Sridhar
