The lack of a Science Minister is seriously disturbing
The desire to "kill" the NBN and replace it with a hybrid model based on aging
and feeble copper and capped out wireless.
The action on enabling spying, data logging and impact on ISP's.
The wish fulfilment of Murdoch to restrict access to media via lockins
and three strikes for "piracy".

All of these are relevent. And no, the former govt is "not much different".
There was a Science and Technology Minister. There was a desire to complete
an FTTH NBN. There was no wish fulfilment of the Murdochracy. Yes,
there is common ground on spying, but these govts are polar opposites
when it comes to tech matters. The Shadow Treasurer knows what a
Cyclotron is and what it is good for. Current treasurer thinks it is something
to do with green bicycle lanes.

As someone who has NBN FTTH and experiences the benefits of it, as someone
who is using it, to try and run a home business, these matters are relevant,
& there are differences. The Tony govt is actively hostile to Science & Tech,
hates the NBN and wants people to get their media through a favoured
source as some kind of twisted thanks for the headlines. They will not take advice,
except from those already "inside the tent". Open Source
in this era of govt is far away from the Microsoftisation and Outsourcing
they are already rolling out everywhere. Patrick is quite right to have concerns!
