Re: launching application in Windows without DOS command window

I'm embarrassed to say that I've discovered a better way now, after all 
my digging this week and huffing and puffing this morning.  For someone 
with a platform such as mine (Windows 2000 and Java 5) ...

Find your runtime environment's javaw.exe file and create a Windows 
shortcut to it.  Edit the properties of the shortcut:

1. at the end of "Target:" append your javaw parameters and file or 
class name.  For example, my target becomes:
    C:\PF\j\jdk1.5\bin\javaw.exe -jar my.jar

So the Target is just a java command with the full pathname to the 
executable.

2. set the "Start in:" to the directory at the head of your application.

Simple.  I just never understood the meaning of "Target" in Windows 
shortcuts.
