ANN: The next Tri-XML meeting is coming up. The topic is SVG
implementations, Animation, and AJAX.

Date- Tuesday, November 15.

Speakers- Doug Schepers

Time- 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Location- Red Hat, Raleigh NC

Overview of presentation-The presentation will discuss the current state of
support for SVG in a Web context (browsers, plugins, etc.), and where it is
likely to go.

Firefox 1.5 (due out in December) will have native SVG support, with
scripting, but without SMIL (declarative) animation. Doug released an Open
Source JavaScript library recently that adds SMIL support to Firefox, Batik,
and other SVG implementations.
Doug will talk about the library and how it is intended to help developers.

Part 2 of the talk will cover Animation. Doug will discuss uses of animation
in SVG, both declarative and scripted, with pros and cons of each.

The talk concludes with a discussion on using AJAX in SVG (focusing on
cross-browser support) to build smooth client-server WebApps.

Please RSVP to Mitch Amiano (mailto:[email protected]) if you
plan to attend this meeting.

Thank you,

Kay
