Well, I'm not sure if I qualify as a respectable person, but we have been
using it successfully on a variety of apps.  There is quite a learning
curve, not so much in doing the basic mapping, but in all the hidden
gotchas.  They can be gotten past, and all in all I'm a fan of
Object-Relational Mapping for all sorts of reasons.  But, it doesn't seem it
should be as hard as Hibernate makes it at times.

 

We've also used TopLink which had similar learning curves, but we liked a
bit better other than Oracle's pricing policies.  I haven't looked at
GlassFish
(https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/persistence/entity-persistence-suppo
rt.html) yet to figure out how that might fit into the equation, but
understand that this is intended to be a simpler version of TOPLink.

 

I'd love to hear feedback from anyone who has taken GlassFish for a spin.
especially if they've used other ORM stuff in the past.
