TOPIC: Introduction to IBM Rational Build Forge
ABSTRACT:
Build Forge automates and tracks any process using command-line tools, scripts, or utilities-even if the process happens sequentially or in parallel across multiple machines. With little or no change to your existing processes, you can:
~ Eliminate human error
~ Improve process speed for builds, packaging, deployment, etc.
~ Achieve auditability/compliance
Common automation projects include:
~ One click build, package, deploy, test scenarios
~ Agile development builds
~ Nightly system maintenance

SPEAKER: Jim Herron, Island Training Solutions
Jim Herron is president of Island Training Solutions, a firm specializing in hands-on training and mentoring for IBM Rational tools. A 30-year veteran of the software development industry, Jim joined startup Atria Software as a member of the initial ClearCase development team in 1991. In 1997, Jim left Rational (formerly Atria) to join startup Lexington Software Associates, where he provided high-level planning and assessment for ClearCase implementation teams. Since co-founding Island Training in 1999, Jim has overseen the development of over thirty Rational tool courses and developed specialized curricula for highly customized environments. He is a frequent presenter at IBM Rational User Groups throughout the US.
