Re: resizing windows and back button

Does it makes sense to have a guideline: not to open a new window, when 
if one links off site, the results are so unpredictable, and the 
controls so few that the results might be considered as bad as settling 
for a pop up.
Many sites design their pop ups for a particular size, they frequently 
prevent resizing,  If you've ever clicked the backspace button when 
this is the only window open you'll know what I mean....
The results are not pretty if you keep them in a larger window, the 
background tends to get repeated all over.  an equally serious concern 
is the removal of various options such as toolbars, scrollbars, etc.

The UA does not have these problems, it has the potential to remember 
the state it was in on leaving a site.
