Apparently Mozilla intends adapting Firefox to the (easy to verify) whish by
the market, namely being able COMBINING the power of the Web and App worlds:

The motives for the true/open Web are noble but the downsides outweigh the
advantages, and also leads to unnecessary friction.

Using Native Messaging interested parties can for example develop the
<keygen> of their dreams.

The only problem left is that the Native Messaging concept Mozilla is
building on, IMO feels more like a "workaround" than a solution.  Since
the defenders of the true/open Web do not want to deal with extensions,
I guess this is as good as it gets?
