RE: Rationale for the warning "Same colors for color and background-color in two contexts"?

To the W3C CSS Validator Team,

I completely agree with Jukka on the 'background-color'/'color' warning generated by the CSS Validator.

I too find the “warning” more of a hindrance than helpful, and I tend to spend too much time adding unnecessary 'background-color: inherit' rules as a quick fix merely to please the validator (okay, and my pedantic tendencies, admittedly!).

Also, I think that the “redefinition of border-[…]” warnings could do with a review too. Much like the color warnings, these tend not to be mistakes, rather *conscious decisions* made by the designer. I do not claim to know the exact figures (except that 99% of all percentages are made up!) – but I would hazard a guess that the number of designers that have specified these rules in error is minimal.

“Just my two cents,” as they say. Thank you for your time, and keep up the good work!

Regards,

Jordan Clark
