The XSL WG is going through the comments at this time, developing
errata and lists of items to consider for a future version of XSL.

The following is our disposition of your above comment:

---
Disposition: Future XSL version

You list some examples of what the WG terms "layout driven" inheritance. Potentially you would want to specify on a per property basis where the
value should be "inherited" from (say via a function analogous to the current "from-parent()"), which could lead to a quite verbose and complex
specification in the stylesheet. It would be very interesting to see some experimentation, for example in FOP, of this approach.

This request for new functionality will be considered for a future version of XSL.

Thank you for your interest in XSL.
